Whew! I’ve dione so many reviews lately, that I thought it was time for a little comic relief! Today I want to share a video with you that made me laugh and laugh as a homeschool parent. In fact, while I was watching it, I soon had the entire family gathered around the computer to laugh and watch along with me. I didn’t necessarily invite them, but they heard the song and me laughing and they just had to come and see what it was all about. What a great way to end the year and begin the next!
One of my son’s favorite things to learn about is the Geography of the United States. He loves anything and everything to do with this subject. In fact, he has confiscated his Dad’s Atlas more than once and studied poured over it for hours and hours. So it is with this knowledge, that I can honestly say that he will be thrilled beyond belief when I implement the studies from the January planner module from TOS this next month.
Within the pages of this great unit study is a virtual field trip beyond what you can imagine! How about taking your kids on a field trip across the United States? With this module, you will find yourself visiting and seeing the sights of the following places:
Acadia National Park
Niagara Falls
The Statue of Liberty
Washington D.C.
Nashville, Tennessee
Disney World
New Orleans, Louisiana
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Columbus Zoo
Mount Rushmore
Yellowstone National Park
Golden Gate Bridge
Grand Canyon
There are even links to many other places that you can explore and learn about in this module!
Within this planner you will find many resources and learning activities that will enrich your studies of the United States Geography. There is a State Symbols Chart that includes a link for each of the 50 states so that you can learn more about each individual state. There are coloring sheets, puzzles and even copywork included.

After January 4, 2009, the price will go back up to the normal low price of $7.95. Grab your copy of Cruisin’ The Country today and take your family across the country without leaving the comfort of your home. It will be fun as well as economical!
One of my goals for 2009 is to increase my use of unit studies in our homeschool. I think that this will allow us to have a little more fun while we are learning things that interest us in addition to our regular studies. Learning should be fun!
To meet this goal, I have every intention of using the great monthly planner modules put out by TOS. These little modules are chock full of lots of information and links that make my job as a homeschool mom and teacher easier. I love how these modules can be used as unit studies or as supplements to the lessons we are already learning.
December’s planner module is filled with ideas and lessons for science. Let’s face it, science can be fun, but often the thought of finding and implementing experiments is daunting. At times I even shudder. Sometimes those great experiments get put on the back burner or even neglected due to time. TOS to the rescue!
I love how this module is laid out. It is impressive with the mix of information and the activities that are encouraged. Science concepts are expertly intertwined with fun activities. Your kids will be begging for more! And you will be the “cool” mom once again.
Your children will learn subjects such as meteorology, grossology, biology, chemistry and so much more! They will learn things such as:
How to make your own weather chart
The five “states” of matter
What “oobligook” is
How to make ice cream in a baggie
The systems of the human body
The science behind tasting your favorite food
How to create your own “gross garden”
How you can help to take care of the wonderful world God has given us by reducing trash, reusing what you can and recycling anything else
This module also contains coloring pages that were created just for this module. There is also copywork, as well as quizes and activity pages, including a wordsearch to reinforce the concepts being taught.
Now, these monthly modules can be used at ANY time. Just because the planner module was released for December, doesn’t mean that you can’t use it at any other time of the year. The modules are designed with timeless information that is great for whenever you need it.
The planner sells for $7.95 at the TOS website. However, if you hurry, it is on sale from now until January 4, 2009 for just $3.98! Don’t miss out on this sale! Get your copy of Let’s Be Scientists today!
