Some of you know that one of the other websites I own is a gardening site. I run a blog carnival on it once a month and it is a lot of fun seeing all of the many submissions come in for the carnival. Occasionally I receive something that is not appropriate for my gardening blog and website, but I really want to feature the submission elsewhere because it is excellent. Today was one of those days.
I literally couldn’t believe my eyes when I clicked on the link to check out this submission: Mary Jones presents 100 Tools to Make Your Kids Math and Science Stars posted at Forensic Science Schools. It was absolutely perfect for this blog and website! I knew you would love this as much as I am loving it! So I decided to share it here with you.
This submission is filled with one hundred (yes, that is 100!) websites that have tools to help your kids in both science and math. This really is an excellent list of sites and resources. I know that I love it when I can add to our science lesson with a fun website. My son really enjoys it and I think it really reinforces what he has learned. I also find websites helpful for math. Sometimes learning a math concept in a different way can really help my son get it into his brain.
Now, for some of these websites, you will need a subscription. Some of these offer a free trial, so you can still glean what you need without cost. And then you can decide if you love it enough to purchase it for your home. However, there are many of the websites that won’t cost you anything more than a little bit of time! I think that is pretty cool!
I hope you can get a lot of use out of this list of math and science websites. I know it will be saving me a little bit of time searching for just that perfect addition to our lesson. And that alone makes this list invaluable to a homeschooling parent. Enjoy!
Things around our home have been crazy to say the least these past couple of months. We have spent more time in the hospital with loved ones than I have ever wanted to. At one time, my poor son actually had 3 of his grandparents in 3 separate hospitals at the same time. Talk about crazy! We did lose my dear, sweet Mother-in-law during this time period. It was so sad to see her in pain, and we are glad that she is now in the loving arms of her Father in Heaven.
Also during this time, we started school. I briefly thought about delaying our start, but my son was anxious to start his studies again and he didn’t want me to tack any days onto the end of our proposed school year. I can’t say I really blame him! One of the things that has helped us tremendously this year is that we are now using workboxes. I will explain more about them in another post, but just let me say that they are truly fabulous and I wonder how I ever managed before we started using them.
To add to the confusion of our lives, I began a new job. This is exciting and a huge blessing to our family! I am happy to announce that I am now the Special Projects Marketing Assistant for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine! My main focus is as the Vendor Liaison for the TOS Crew. That means that I will be working directly with all of the great vendors that the Crew will be doing reviews for this year and the next and the next…I love my new job!
Now, I will still be posting some reviews for some of my very favorite products, so don’t think that I won’t be telling you about some awesome things since I have a new job. I love sharing what I have been using and how it is making a difference in our school. I have a couple of things that I will be jotting a review down for already. So look for those in the very near future.
I will also be doing a post soon about what we are using for our curriculum this year. God has led me in some amazing ways and I feel so blessed to be using the curriculum that we are. I can truly see His hand in our school this year. Even with all of the crazy things going on in our lives right now, this is probably the best school year yet! Thank you Lord for guiding us in the way you desire!
See you soon…
